Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed lived his last breaths today at AIIMS. He was a veteran of Abdullah Family and First Muslim Home Minister of the country.
He was admitted in the hospital for a past few days and sustaining on ventilator. The reason for which he was admitted was his platelets reduced to a dangerous level and did not sustain his life to it.. On December 24, his condition became seriously critical before he was transported from Srinagar to AIIMS via a special airplane.
In the hospital he was diagnosed with pneumonia and sepsis (dangerous complexity of an infection). He is second Chief Minister who died while in service, the first one being Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah who died in 1982.
He has left a wife, three daughters and a son in pain. The oldest daughter Mehbooba is believed to take over the place of Sayeed in near future. If she does so, she will be the first Woman Chief Minister of the state. Her appointment will base on approval of BJP.
In the memory of deceased, Jammu Kashmir state has announced seven-day despair and a holiday for today. Narindre Modi has condoled the death of Chief Minister saying that his death has left a huge void in the National politics and he was an honorable man, his presence will be missed in the state parliament.
